Itron was founded in 1977 by a small group of Washington Water Power engineers trying to find a more efficient way to read meters. By 1985 Itron had expanded globally into the Asian market as well as the European market by developing plants in France and the United Kingdom. After continuing to grow through its consulting teams, Iton was nationally recognized by the White House in 2010, for its commitment to US based manufacturing and clean energy. Currently Itron is working on combining their IoT network and software platform with a cloud-based customer engagement platform for greater customer service opportunities.
