Learn How to Install, Checkout, & Configure BAS Controls
Configure supervisory devices, controllers, inputs, and outputs
Audience:
This course is targeted towards technicians, designers, operators, and commissioning agents who have at least 12 months of experience with BAS systems or who have been through our Building Automation Fundamentals course.
Pre-Requisite Knowledge:
Fundamental awareness of the parts and pieces of BAS. Basic IT Knowledge.
Objectives:
- Install and configure supervisory devices, controllers, and inputs and outputs
- Configure a full system tree to include point mapping, communication trunks, point extensions, and graphics.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform point-to-point checkout, functional tests, and documentation closeout.

This course will teach your technicians how to effectively execute a controls project from start to finish based on real submittal documents. Here are some of the topics that are covered in this course.
- Conduct a sales to operations hand off
- Review project documents and identify key information for proper project execution
- Create Point-to-point checkout sheets
- Understand the impact of loaded and unloaded circuits on controllers
- Properly wire power for multiple controllers, inputs, and outputs
- Perform trunk wiring and termination
- Demonstrate the ability to create a controller addressing scheme
- Demonstrate the ability to research controller configurations
- Demonstrate the ability to externally configure a controller
- Demonstrate how to wire and test dry contact (status), resistive, voltage, and current inputs
- Demonstrate how to wire and test internally sourced, externally sourced, voltage, and current outputs
- Learn the three different kinds of recovery systems, how they are controlled, and the effect they have on other systems.
- Demonstrate the ability to conduct and document a point-to-point checkout
- Describe the common network requirements of a BAS network
- Demonstrate how to setup a supervisory device
- Demonstrate the ability to configure schedules, trends, and alarm extensions
- Demonstrate the ability to create graphics
- Describe the different methods use for test and balance
- Describe how to create and complete a functional test
- Demonstrate the ability to execute a final closeout check
Succesful Completion:
Successful completion will require:
Completion of all video lessons and successfully passing the course final exam with a score of 90% or greater. Upon successful completion you will receive a certificate of completion with your name and you will be added into the BAM database.

The class is online and self-paced. As soon as you enroll you will have life long access.
How do I access the videos?
All of our videos are available on our course website which is supported by the best-in-class online training platform Thinkific. You will be able to watch the course videos online or download the course videos/audio to consume the content offline.
What parts do I need for the course?
This course is designed so that you can use your own controllers and components. In the course we utilize a JACE-8000 + IO and EasyIO FS-32.
Do I have access to the course at set times?
No, as soon as the course opens you will have full access to all of the modules. There will be a series of e-mails we send out with suggested timelines but if you want to consume the entire course over a couple of days you are more than welcome to do so.
